Land South of Long Hanborough Railway Station
Welcome to the consultation website for the proposed new homes on land to the south of Long Hanborough Station. As well as providing information about the proposals, it seeks to answer frequently asked questions and shares the emerging concept plan. There is also the opportunity for you to ask questions and give feedback on the emerging proposals.
What is planned?
Blenheim Strategic Partners and CEG Land Promotions II are preparing an outline planning application for submission in late
summer/early Autumn 2026.
A new sustainable neighbourhood is proposed. This well-connected, attractive place would be designed to promote healthier, more sustainable lifestyles, in walking distance of Hanborough Station.
Why are new homes needed?
The Government is committed to delivering 370,000 new homes per year over the current parliament, in order to address the current housing crisis; it is already significantly in arrears with only 208,600 homes delivered in 2024/25. The importance of maximising growth adjacent to rail stations, such as Hanborough Station, is specifically noted by the Government in its National Planning Policy Framework.
The new West Oxfordshire Local Plan proposes delivering over 16,000 new homes by 2043, equating to around 905 homes per year, and the site is included as a preferred location for new homes in the Council’s most recent Preferred Spatial Options Consultation.
The site will help to meet West Oxfordshire District’s housing needs, it can accommodate up to 600 homes in a highly sustainable location, supported by investment into infrastructure improvements and mitigation so that new residents can be accommodated in the area.
Growth in this location will support the aims of the emerging Local Plan, supporting growth in locations accessible to key public transport infrastructure, as well as protecting the Green Belt and National Landscape from development pressure.
